Gerlos also has a lot to offer away from the bustle of the slopes.
Whether cross-country skiing, tobogganing, winter hiking or ski touring -
there is sure to be something for everyone.

Cross-country skiing

In Gerlos and the surrounding countryside are excellent cross-country skiing conditions. Fresh, daily groomed trails will make you want to go on fun cross-country skiing tours in the wintry alpine world of the Zillertal. Gerlos offers a variety of cross-country skiing trails, for both classic and skating style. Beginners as well as experienced cross-country skiers will get their money's worth.

Our trail tips:

Innertal - Alpina - Schönachtal trail (ca. 6 km)
You will start at the Oberwirt parking lot and head along the left side of the stream towards Innertal past the power station - the so-called „Funsingau“. On the way back, you will cross the wooden bridge (across from the Innertalerhof) and take the underpass into the Schönachtal - past the Schönachhof and on the opposite side of the Schönachbach towards Gerlos.
Difficulty: easy

Schönachtal - Stinkmoosalm trail (ca. 6 km)
You will start at the Oberwirt parking lot and cross the bridge over the Gerlosbach. On the right side of the stream, the trail leads to the entrance of the Schönachtal valley. At the end of the trail via a ca. 15 min. walk, you will reach the groomed hiking path into the valley, where you will come to the „Stinkmoosalm“ trail. This trail leads over hilly terrain in parts and is one of the most beautiful and popular trails in Gerlos. At the end of the trail, you will reach the ‚Lackenalm‘ snack station after a short walk.
Difficulty: easy to intermediate

High-altitude trail on the Gerlosplatte (9 km)
On the Gerlosplatte (1,640 m) is the highest cross-country trail (loop trail) in the „Hohe Tauern“ national park. You can drive by car to the „Gerlosplatte“. The starting point is Sporthotel Gerlosplatte.

Tobogganing

4 toboggan runs invite you to have tons of fun in Gerlos. The diverse toboggan runs are suited for children as well as adults. Some of the toboggan runs are floodlit and offer refreshments opportunities after a fast, thrilling ride.

  • Toboggan run Krummbach – Zillertal length: 1,5 km
  • Krimml / Hochkrimml length: 2,2 km

Anyone who wants a special experience might take a trip to the Tobogganing Arena Bamberg at the Wildkogel - probably the longest toboggan run of the world.

Winter hiking

In Gerlos and the surroundings, you will find numerous winter hiking paths, which will lead you through the snowy winter wonderland of Zillertal. Enjoy the idyll of pristine nature, the fresh mountain air, and the breathtaking snow-covered landscapes. Awaiting you along the winter hiking paths are rustic and cozy alpine huts and hill farms.

Ski tours

These interesting and diverse ski tours begin in the Gerlos valley and lead into the glacier regions of the 3,000 m high summits. Be sure to pay attention to current avalanche conditions, whether you're a beginner or experienced ski tourer - so that you can truly enjoy this special nature experience. The difficulty levels of the ski tours range from intermediate to difficult.
